A soft landing for the Seekers, the Healers, and those Walking Between Worlds.

Rooted in Love & Liberation

I offer depth-oriented, trauma-informed counselling for adults who are looking for more than quick fixes—a space to slow down, become curious about what lies beneath the surface, and explore the stories, patterns, relationships, and experiences that shape who you are.

This Space Is Built For You

If you have spent your life feeling like the world wasn’t quite designed for you—if you are a helper, a frontline worker, a dreamer, or someone navigating the expansive, in-between spaces of identity—you are welcome here.

You don’t have to fit neatly into a category to belong in this space. I work with people from many different backgrounds and walks of life, and I especially welcome those who have often felt unseen, misunderstood, or like they had to make themselves smaller to fit the spaces around them.

This space may be a good fit for you if you are:

  • Creatives, Dreamers & Gentle Rebels

  • Helpers, Healers, Organizers & Therapists

  • Women & Gender-Diverse Folks

  • Indigenous, BIPOC & Biracial Kin

  • 2SLGBTQ+ Community Members & Allies

  • Highly Sensitive & Neurodivergent Humans

These aren’t boxes you need to fit into. They’re simply some of the communities, experiences, and ways of being that I have particular experience and affinity for.

What matters most is that you feel a sense of resonance with the way I practice.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what’s wrong or what needs to change. We can begin with what’s here.

The Terrains We Walk Together

While I welcome every part of your story, I offer a gentle, dedicated space for tending to these landscapes:

  • Holding Space for Pain & Trauma: We can gently explore the impacts of early experiences, relational wounds, trauma, and the ways your past may continue to shape your present. The goal isn’t to force painful experiences into a neat narrative, but to create enough safety and understanding to begin relating to them differently.

  • Burnout & Deep Fatigue: For those who are exhausted from carrying too much for too long. Together, we can explore the patterns, expectations, relationships, and systems that contribute to burnout—not simply how to become more productive within them.

  • Grief, Loss, & Life Transitions: For the tender spaces between what was and what comes next. We can make room for grief, identity shifts, endings, uncertainty, and the complicated emotions that accompany significant change.

  • Altered States & Dreamwork: A thoughtful, grounded space to explore dreams, active imagination, and experiences of non-ordinary consciousness. We can approach these experiences with curiosity while considering their psychological, cultural, relational, and personal meaning.

  • Sex-Positive & SW-Affirming Care: A non-judgmental therapeutic space for exploring sexuality, alternative relationship structures, kink, sex work, intimacy, identity, and the many ways people experience connection and desire.

Steady, Collaborative, and Deeply Human

Therapy with me is not a rigid program or a homework-heavy “fix.” It is a collaborative, thoughtful process of getting to know yourself more deeply.

You bring your story, your questions, and your pace. I bring clinical training, curiosity, experience, and a steady presence.

We don’t have to spend every session in the deepest parts of your psyche, either. Sometimes the most important thing is what happened at work on Tuesday. Sometimes it’s the relationship you’re struggling with. Sometimes we laugh.

All of it belongs.

  • We Meander: We make room for the “right now”—the frustrations of your week, the mundane details of daily life, the relationship you’re thinking about, or the thing you can’t stop replaying in your head. These moments often offer clues about the deeper patterns unfolding underneath.

  • We Listen to Symptoms: Rather than treating anxiety, sadness, numbness, anger, or exhaustion as problems to eliminate as quickly as possible, we can become curious about what they might be communicating. Symptoms can be painful, but they can also carry information about needs, boundaries, relationships, history, and the ways you’ve learned to survive.

  • We Honour the Human: We can go into difficult places without making everything heavy. There is room for grief and anger, but also humour, delight, absurdity, pleasure, and ordinary life. You don’t have to perform wellness in the therapy room.

Chantelle Sands, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), sitting on a wooden forest bridge in a warm orange sweater, providing trauma-informed and decolonial counselling services in Vancouver, BC

Meet Chantelle

Hi, I’m Chantelle. I’m so glad your path has led you here.

I am a proud, born-and-raised Yukoner of mixed Indigenous (Kaska and Tlingit) and European ancestry. As a queer femme, happily married in a hetero-presenting relationship, I navigate the liminal spaces of the in-between daily.

I come from a blue-collar, working-class background, and I am a first-generation university graduate. I have a colourful past that led me to the path of the healer—moving through my own deep, transformative healing before answering the call to walk alongside others in theirs.

Before opening my private practice, my heart and labour spent a decade immersed in grassroots, frontline community care in my hometown of Whitehorse. I have walked alongside folks in youth residential treatment, adult inpatient recovery, substance use services, and Indigenous friendship centres.

Today, I weave my raw lived experience with gentle clinical grounding to offer you a soft landing—a cozy, unhurried space where you can let down your guard and be truly seen.

My Guiding Light

My work is deeply relational. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself can become a place where curiosity, trust, honesty, and new ways of relating can emerge.

My clinical practice is grounded in a Two-Eyed Seeing approach, bringing together Western clinical knowledge with Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and healing.

I draw from somatic and mindfulness-based practices, narrative therapy, depth psychology, emotion-focused, strength-based and compassion-focused approaches, and parts work.

Together, we explore the emotional, relational, cultural, historical, and systemic contexts that shape our lives, while making space for your strengths, wisdom, and capacity for healing.

For me, healing is not linear. It is interconnected, relational, and deeply personal. We may explore the inner world while also considering family, community, culture, identity, land, systems, and the histories we carry.

Shaped by feminist and decolonial values, I believe your experiences cannot always be understood separately from the world around you. Sometimes the work is not about changing yourself to fit the world—it is about understanding what the world has asked of you, what you have had to carry, and what might become possible when you no longer have to carry it alone.

Words and Witness

Healing lives in the stories we tell, the myths we unravel, and the art we make of our survival. On my Reflections page, I share poetry, prose, and fragmented thoughts on walking between worlds, decolonial healing, and the beauty of getting lost.

If you are a seeker, a dreamer, or someone who finds medicine in written words, I invite you to read along.

Step Into the In-Between

You don’t need to have your story completely figured out before beginning therapy.

You don’t need to arrive with the right words, a clear diagnosis, or a plan for what needs to change.

You simply need to bring what is here.

If you feel that my approach may be a good fit for what you’re looking for, I invite you to book a complimentary 20-minute consultation. It’s a chance for us to meet, talk a little about what brings you to therapy, and see how it feels to be in conversation together.
